2013 Emmy Awards

Okay, I know this post is over a month late, but how could I NOT do an Emmy’s review? And everyone knows that Box Office Betty loves a good award show, as well as all the quirky moments that come with it.

Neil Patrick Harris hosted this year’s ceremony, who we absolutely love as a host. He brought in all kinds of star power for the opening and really did a great job! Especially his musical number (we’ll get to that later!).

Tina Fey and Amy Pohler stole the opening, obviously, with their hilarious “twerk it” skit. Fresh off the heels of the Miley debacle, they yelled at NPH to take off his pants because they come to award shows for the twerking. I love these two; they are the best part of any awards show! Can they just come out with a reality show already?

The evening was full of unexpected winners. Jeff Daniels beat out a slew of big contender and won his first Emmy as Newsroom’s larger-than-life cable newsman Will McAvoy. Earlier in the night, Nurse Jackie’s Merritt Wever surprised everyone with her upset win for supporting comedy actress. Steven Colbert also beat out Jon Stewart for the first time in 11 years, taking home two Emmys for best variety and outstanding writing for The Colbert Report.

One of the other great standout moments of this year’s Emmy’s was Neil Patrick Harris’ dance routine announcing for the first time the nominees for Outstanding Choreography. Check it out!

The Golden Globes are quickly coming up! They are being hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Pohler, so be sure to check out our review after it airs!
