Blog Post Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee
One of my favorite comedies in the 90s was Seinfeld. It was commonly known as “a show about nothing,” and yet, it managed to be absurdly funny. For those of you who have missed the show since its finale in 1998, I have great news for you: Jerry Seinfeld has created yet another show about nothing! It’s a web series called Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. Each episode features a different car, a different restaurant, and a different guest comedian. Basically, Jerry just picks up a comedian friend and drives him to get coffee while they chat about everything, anything, and nothing. The result is hilarious!
There have been ten episodes so far, with a guest list that includes Larry David, Ricky Gervais, and Alec Baldwin. Yesterday, the Box Office staff watched a good amount of these episodes while stuffing envelopes; the laughter helped ease the pain of our countless paper cuts.
These things can be surprisingly sharp!
Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee gathered some attention recently when Jerry picked up his Seinfeld co-star, Michael Richards. In the episode, Michael actually talks about the 2006 incident where he lost his temper and shouted racist insults at a heckler. He’s very apologetic, talking about how the incident has weighed heavily on his mind.
It’s quite interesting, but if you only have time to watch one of the episodes, I suggest episode number 3. The episode, called “A Monkey and a Lava Lamp,” features a 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A and Rae’s Diner in Santa Monica, CA. The guest is Brian Regan, who will be appearing at our theater on February 17, and Jerry calls him “one of my favorite, favorite stand-up comedians.” Jerry and Brian chat about everything from first date etiquette to superhero movie villains.
Hilarious, right? I’m can’t wait till Brian performs here. How about you guys? Are you excited for Brian’s performance? Do you like Jerry’s new web series?
