Blog Once-themed trip
I was reading tweets from the official twitter feed of the Broadway musical Once, when I discovered a vacation package based on the musical. Titled “Once Again in Dublin,” the package is offered through Aer Lingus and includes:
- 4 nights at the Academy Plaza Hotel in Dublin
- Roundtrip economy class plane tickets from New York to Dublin
- Tickets to see Once on Broadway
- Admission to a Literary Pub Walking Tour in Dublin
You can read more about the package at this link: http://www.aerlingusvacationstore.com/vacations/once-promotion-alvs?utm_source=PR_ext&utm_medium=&utm_campaign=13Aug2012
I think it sounds lovely, but it’s also made me think: what if other musicals attempted this kind of promotion:
Would we get a Les Misérables trip to France? An Aida trip to Egypt? A Chicago trip to, well, Chicago?
None of those would quite work, actually, because those shows take place in another time period. It seems that there aren’t too many modern day musicals, and even the ones that do exist don’t lend themselves to a travel package. I mean, what would you do for Next to Normal? Tour a psychiatric ward?
What I’m saying is, this getaway appears to be a unique promotion idea. Kudos to the Once team! I wish I could go.
What do you think? Did I forget a musical that would make for a great travel package?
