With so much to do and see this time of year I need my own red nosed reindeer to guide me through. At the Coral Springs Center for the Arts we have a total of 23 performances in the month of December. That makes for a very busy Betty!
One of the best things we have going on right now is The Winter Wonderettes in our Dinner Theatre. It is a holiday musical featuring four talented ladies and the audience members themselves! In two short halves audience is entertained by classic songs, gleeful scenes, touching moments, and all while enjoying top notch dinner and cocktails. I went for our staff private preview and then went back with some girlfriends for a Friday night out. After I may or may not have gone home and ordered elf costumes for my pets, but I was really feeling the holiday spirit(s)!
Coming up next weekend we have our annual showing of The Nutcracker ballet. This is has become such a crowd pleaser there is actually a total of five performances! We all know the story and are probably familiar with the music but when this time of the year rolls around there is something so special about the Soldiers, the Sugarplum Fairy, and of course the lovely Clara. It is a winter time classic!
If you’re someone who wants to spend the holidays laughing out loud rather than at the ballet then Sarge the Chanukah Chutzpah Tour is stopping here just for you. Sarge is a veteran performer whose piano skills are only paralleled by his sense of humor. We’ve all been excited for this show to return to the center, last year I met Sarge and I swear our conversation was like a private comedy show preview. What a funny guy!
To close out this festive month and this eventful year we have one of the classiest New Years Eve parties in all of South Florida. Who else rings it in with some of Vienna’s best musicians? Salute to Vienna returns to the center and guests can even stay after the show for dessert and cocktails and to watch the balldrop inside the theatre. Nothing says Hello 2015 – I’m here like timeless music, unique atmosphere, and a glass of champagne.
It’s only day five of December and I am so excited for the next twenty six. Despite the hectic schedule it truly is the happiest time of the year. Even without the glitz, glamour, and giggles I just love spending time with loved one, reflecting on a year well spent, and getting excited for the future!
